SPECIAL EDUCATION DAY
Today, we celebrate Special Education Day and thank our dedicated faculty who empower Commodores with diverse learning needs. We’re grateful for our educators and staff who make a difference every day!

The Lafayette Middle School Planning Team requests the help of parents, staff, and other stakeholders by answering a brief survey using the link below. This survey will close Monday, December 15. Thank you for supporting the LMS Commodores!

LCSD will be closed from November 24 through November 28 for the Thanksgiving Break Holiday. Classes will resume on Monday, December 1.

PERFECT ATTENDANCE
LMS is excited to recognize and reward our Week 5 Perfect Attendance winners, Kaleb Johnson (7th grade) and Shippe Stokes (8th grade)! Thank you for showing up each day, ready to learn and on time.

We are halfway through our 6 weeks of Perfect Attendance Incentive at LMS! We would like to congratulate our Week 3 winners - Allie Fulcher (7th) and Gavin Byrd (8th)! Way to stay Anchored To Excellence!

Nearly 90% of LMS students showed growth or scored Proficient/Advanced on their Fall Benchmark assessments, earning a sweet reward and the chance to pie the principal!

Congratulations to our Week 2 Perfect Attendance recipients, Gavin Carr (7th grade) and Mia Green (8th grade). We commend these students for their dedication to attending school every day.

ELA Writing PLC in Action
Our 7th–10th grade ELA teachers gathered for a Professional Learning Community (PLC) focused on writing. Eighth-grade teacher Annie Thomas and 9th-grade teacher Alyssa Codling shared insights and strategies from the recent Writing Symposium at the University of Mississippi, bringing new ideas back to strengthen student learning in the classroom.

7th Grade: Preston Berryhill
8th Grade: Zuri Lloyd

Last Friday, Current 8th and 9th-graders who demonstrated growth or proficiency on their 2025 MAAP assessments enjoyed a Silent Disco celebration!
We’re so proud of our students for their hard work and commitment to success.

Last week, LMS and LHS kicked off the year with a Wildcard edition, showing off college gear and school spirit. This tradition helps our students see that college, career schools, and other post-secondary paths are within reach and worth celebrating!

What an incredible night at Monday’s Open House for Lafayette Middle and High School! It was so good to see our hallways filled with Commodore students, families, and staff connecting and preparing for a brand-new school year.
We’re excited to welcome our students back TOMORROW for the first day of school! Let’s make it a great year, Commodores!
