Exploring Light in 4th Grade Science! Mrs. Hall’s 4th-grade scientists at LUES had a brilliant time investigating how light behaves when it strikes transparent, translucent, and opaque materials! After exploring these concepts, they put their creativity to the test by making their own spring flower stained glass! Hands-on learning shines the brightest! Great job, young scientists!

A Royal Visit for a Healthy Future! Our 4th and 5th graders had a special guest on Thursday—Miss Mississippi! She joined us at Lafayette Upper Elementary to present Tar Wars, a tobacco-free education program from the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians Foundation. Through this inspiring program, students learned about the importance of making healthy choices, taking personal responsibility, and staying tobacco-free. With the support of community leaders like medical students, family physicians, and educators, just one hour can make a lifetime of difference! Thank you for visiting, Miss Mississippi!

Valentine's Day Fun in 6th Grade ELA! Last Friday, Ms. Liberti’s, Ms. Pittman’s, and Ms. Bruno’s 6th grade ELA classes celebrated Valentine’s Day with some sweet activities! They participated in Blind Dates with Books! Students picked out books based on their “mystery” covers and discovered new reading adventures! They also got creative and made delicious candy salads, mixing all their favorite treats to share with friends! It was a day full of sweetness, surprises, and, of course, lots of love for books!

4th Grade Science Class Shines Bright! The students in Mrs. Hall's class have been busy exploring the wonders of science, and they ended their unit with a hands-on project! They each created their very own flashlights as part of their learning about circuits and energy. These young scientists had a blast putting their knowledge to the test, and now they’ve got their very own flashlights to light up the room (or maybe their next adventure)!

3rd Grade Quest Students Explore Lunar New Year with Ozobots! Sofia and Connor from our 3rd Grade Quest class have been combining creativity and coding as they learn about the traditions of the Lunar New Year! After researching the holiday’s customs, they were challenged to program their Ozobots to collect lucky money in red envelopes—just like in the New Year celebrations! It’s amazing to see them problem-solve and apply their tech skills in such a fun and meaningful way. Way to go, Quest!
