ELEMENTARY PAGEANT ANNOUNCEMENT

4th Grade Heartwarming Letter Writing Project In December, Mrs. Edwards's 4th-grade students took part in a special letter-writing project where they wrote heartfelt letters to children at the Ronald McDonald House in Baltimore, Maryland. The students enjoyed knowing that their words and small toy gifts would bring some holiday cheer to kids facing medical challenges. It was a fun and meaningful class project, and we're so proud of their kindness and generosity. Thank you to our students for spreading love and joy!

LUES Artists!
Mrs. Shanks's 6th-grade art students participated in the Lion’s Club Peace Poster Contest. The theme for the contest was “Peace Without Limits.” Leah Cromeans placed first, Mary Harper Patterson second, and Kayla Nail third. Leah’s poster will go on to compete at the regional competition.

To celebrate Banker in Every Classroom week, 6th-grade math classes at LUES had the opportunity to learn from Mr. Taylor and Mr. Dalvin from Guaranty Bank about different types of accounts and loans. The students also had the chance to ask great questions about banking. A big thank you to Mr. Taylor and Mr. Dalvin for taking the time to visit and share their knowledge with us!

Innovation in Music at LUES!
Our 6th grade music students in Mr. Freelon’s class are taking creativity to the next level! They've been hard at work designing and building their musical instruments from scratch.
From maracas to homemade guitars, the students have used everyday materials to craft instruments that make unique sounds. Not only are they learning about music, but they're also exploring engineering, problem-solving, and the magic of making music from their own creations.

Celebrating Our Lafayette Leaders!
At Lafayette Upper Elementary, we are proud to honor our Lafayette Leaders each month! These outstanding students were chosen for demonstrating essential character qualities that align with our monthly focus. For September, our theme was Empathy, and these students stood out for their compassion, kindness, and understanding toward others.
We celebrated their achievements with a special breakfast, where they were recognized alongside their families. Congratulations to our Lafayette Leaders for being such positive role models in our school community!

The LUES AR race is heating up! Congratulations to Leela Panickar and Claiborne Nicholson on earning their Championship Rings! Our 3rd graders are shining, with three students already reaching this milestone, while just one 5th grader has claimed theirs. The big question remains—who will rise to the top and secure the top 3 spots to earn the coveted Lafayette Upper Letterman’s Jacket? Keep pushing, reading, and reaching for those goals as we head toward an exciting finish this May!

Halloween fun and Family Day at LUES was a spooktacular success! Thank you to all the families who joined us for trick-or-treating and supported our Book Fair! TODAY is the last chance to stock up on some spine-chilling reads and new favorites.
